About the Author
Domenic C. S. is the author and creator of The New Tarot Reference, a five-volume system for studying and reading the Rider-Waite Tarot with greater structure, clarity, and consistency.
Coming from a technical and systems-oriented background, Domenic approached tarot differently from the beginning. Rather than treating each card as a collection of disconnected keywords, he became interested in the underlying logic of the deck: how meanings are formed, why certain patterns repeat, how context changes interpretation, and how individual cards function as parts of a larger symbolic system.
That approach became the foundation of The New Tarot Reference. The series was designed to give readers a practical framework they can return to across different readings, rather than relying entirely on memorization or intuition alone. It examines tarot through multiple layers, including card structure, symbolism, spread construction, practical interpretation, structured practice, and elemental interaction.
The goal is not to remove intuition from tarot. It is to give intuition something solid to work from. By establishing a consistent framework first, readers can make interpretations with greater confidence while still developing their own reading style, personal associations, and instincts over time.
Developing the series involved extended study, writing, comparison, practical testing, and repeated refinement. Concepts were revisited across the books to ensure that the same underlying logic could remain useful whether someone was studying a single card, interpreting a full spread, practicing independently, or examining the interaction between several cards at once.
The series was also shaped through ongoing collaboration with LAWRcana, a working tarot reader known publicly as The Pink Witch. Her experience reading for others provided an important practical perspective throughout the development of the system and helped keep the material grounded in how tarot is actually used at the reading table.
Domenic independently writes, designs, and publishes The New Tarot Reference. Across its five volumes, the series is intended to function as a connected reference system that readers can study progressively, consult during readings, and continue returning to as their understanding of tarot develops.
